Well i guess we haven’t seen a threat like this since WW2, so we are going to have to deal with it either way if the US leaves Nato.

No. The 2% of GDP for each nation is the obligation to fund the military for their defense, not NATO. The idea is that all countries have a basic obligation to defend themselves, but can rely on the other member countries to come to their aid if they are attacked by a non-NATO country.

Whatever, the alliances and strategic global decisions you have made thus far in a short space of time, made the US the worlds superpower.
The only way is down if you abandon alliances now.

you have to know when to fold em…

Just so long as you know its not Europe folding to Russia.

EU should not fold they live in the neighborhood.

USA has an illegal alien invasion to take care of. AND HOMELESS LEGAL CITIZENS to take care of. I am not opposed to loaning some armament with the expectations of the Ukies paying us back with money they get from the EU. 《OR USA giving the EU a line of credit for Ukie defense. Just pay the USA back.》

The enemy may be flooding across our open borders.

Serious question … Do you believe that Europe can repel and subdue Russia without US help?

I don’t know but i guess you have a choice in the matter, we don’t.
As in both world wars, we’ll give it our best.

C’mon. I’m looking for your opinion, not a commitment.

You can observe history to knowEurope has survived long before the US ( said without any conceit).

Not as a unit it hasn’t. The entire history of Europe has been war within the various people/countries on that continent beginning long before the Americas were even known (by Europeans) to exist.

To be fair, y’all tried to kill each other a bunch of times. Even drug us into the mess twice in a twenty year period.

We all only really destroyed ourselves once.

We maintain a substantial military capability, with a high level combat readiness. We don’t pay treasure to NATO for NATO to decide how to spend. Neither does any other nation, beyond the small combined budget to maintain the facilities in Belgium that house SHAPE HQ. Military personnel assigned there are paid by their individual nations. Each nation is expected to provide combat power to the alliance, from their standing military forces, in an article 5 response. In order to meet this obligation, each nation is expected to spend a designated minimum percentage of their national budget to maintain the standing forces necessary to provide credible deterrence, and if necessary provide combat power to any article 5 activation. European NATO members, for the most part, have not spent the required minimum and can not field a credible combat ready force of any substance, and definitely can’t field the logistics necessary to keep even the meager forces they have in extended combat operations.

And this is because their social programs were intentionally given priority over their national defense.

I’m not rationalizing Russia. It’s not my problem.

No. That’s wrong.

I don’t expect abandoning alliances…but I do demand those alliances do their fair share. Right?

I want ocean to rise with EU mighty navy…and sky darkens with their great air force.

Until then you guys across the pond is sponging off of us.
