Thanks to this thread I had a big mac last night and it was perfectly acceptable. Though I did get it delivered through Grub Hub which made it stupidly expensive but could not be arsed to drive or make anything more complex than a bowl of cereal.

Not at all. Not sure anyone brags about eating at McDonalds. It was more me taking the piss put of myself for being lazy and wasting my money on a Big Mac of all things.

If you’re going to use Grub Hub to order food because you’re lazy, at least order something worthwhile. Thai or Chinese or even a pizza would be much more for your money (even providing leftovers if you do it right) than a freaking Big Mac and fries.

You are spot on. It is really bad value for money when a yellow curry only costs a few dollars more.

population is rising. it hit the bottom in 2022, rising this year.

by 2026 losing population will be a distant memory, as people come flocking back.

I can truly say I loved my time in England. I got my first choice of duty stations when I went in the Air Force. Got to spend two years at RAF Bentwaters/Woodbridge. You have some wonderful history in England that I wanted to see. Can’t say much for most of the food, but you’re right about the beer! I don’t drink anymore, but as a young single man in the service, I enjoyed many a pint.

Both looked like drug addicts and very slovenly. The cashier’s can’t make change, are seldom courteous and I often have to pull to the window by the exit to wait for my order. I understand why these people got hired because that McDonald’s advertises on their sign “WORK TODAY, GET PAID TOMORROW.”- doesn’t instill confidence that I’m going to get a meal that I would eat if I could actually see who prepared it and the conditions under which it was prepared.

Regardless of hourly wage, I would say what you describe above is a failure of that location’s management or franchise owner.

We have some horrific franchise owners here and I will not go then there are others where its obvious the owner is engaged and wants the business to be a success. My kids worked in a McDonalds where the owner had several and he was constantly rotating between branches, not micromanaging but making sure everything remained on track. His location’s were great to visit.

Yes I agree, the manager and or owner should be responsible for standards but when they apparently can’t get people to work for more than a couple consecutive days then it seems the problem is also a poor pool of workers to choose from, and that says a lot more about the state of our country than the jobs created numbers touted by Biden. The problem isn’t low pay…

Everyone here does not drink piss beer. The country is full of micro-breweries that equal the best that Great Britain has to offer, and some that easily surpass it.

Amusingly, I was in a English pub in the early eighties enjoying a wonderful steak and kidney pie drinking as good an ale as the house had to offer when I noticed a beet sign for Carling Black Lable (an American beer, if you are not familiar.) I asked about it and the proprietor told me that it was a best seller there. IMO Carling Black Lable not only fits the description of piss, it’s one of the worst piss beers I’ve ever drunk. Go figure.

No high school kids.

The other fast foods hire some kids.

In So Cal I have seen the progression.

It use to be high school kids who worked FF( first job and all)

Then high school kids were slowly replaced with retirees working PT.

Then the retirees we replace with fresh across the border hispanics who can’t even speak English, have extreme trouble taking an order and mostly get it wrong.

I’m seeing more and more of that in the fast food places in NJ as well.

I don’t know why anyone would work at McDonald’s. Or any of these fast food restaurants. They dress you up like a little freak. You have to work with their nasty food all day, coming home smelling of it. And many of the customers you’re dealing with, are from the bottom end of society. On top of that, you’re being paid almost nothing. It’s a demeaning job. Plenty of minimum wage jobs out there, I have no idea why people choose a fast food restaurant.

When I go to my local, authentic, actual Pub I order Fish and chips, exchange chips for more cod, Hold the batter, deep fry in tallow. no seed oil. and a rib eye.

No veggies, no Dairy or eggs. That stuff is poison. No beer. Alcohol is all from toxic things.
