The press conferences would be epic!

He still has a sizeable loyal following. Those loyal followers would most certainly come out in droves to vote for him in the primary. It would really come down to the level of interest a primary contest would generate for the other candidates. I’m betting non-Trump supporters won’t be nearly as enthusiastic, even though there might be more of them, and that Trump would win by default.
Trump was the right man to rip the scabs off the corruption that pervades the Democrat-Rino- globalist political elite. No one else had the ego to weather the 24/7 slander at a noncompliant anti-globalist-elite president for four years. He has exposed to the electorate the depth and extensive reach of the international socialist aparatus. But now it is time for a more measured political dismantling of the septic system and with so many MAGA adherents now in the GoP, Trump cannot afford to go about attacking his political allies for mere gamesmanship. The base now want the strong unyielding and effective unifying approach of people like Ron De Santis. Trump needs to run a primary campaign that is polite and respectful to MAGA allies and may the most persuasive candidate win. He can still poke the borax at RINOs to his hearts content. But he needs to be collegial with other MAGA policy affirming candidates or he will be passed over for a more respectful and unifying banner-bearer. He was the crest of a political wave that is no longer dependent on him being at tbe top.

neveda now has ranked choice thanks to a ballot question.
i do however favor a runoff system between the top two candidates who didnt reach the 50% threshold ala Georgia.

I thought it was funny as well. I’m just throwing things out there for discussion.

Would be a gift to the dems.
Unless the voting and counting systems are cleaned up in the controversial states nobody we (GOP) nominate will win the General in 2024.
Simple as that IMO.
We need to go back to precovid voting systems.
In fact we need to go back to paper ballots and photo ID.
Oddly enough we used to get it right with those systems and get results the same day normally as well.
Voters had confidence in the systems in those days. A great many do not these days.

We didn’t have idiots on social media trumpeting unfounded claims of voter fraud back in “those days”. And the “results” the same day were often based on exit polls (no longer used much due to unreliability), not actual poll numbers.
And how do you know they “got it right” then?
Historically, not so much. You also have to remember that the non-Trump vote will be divided among more candidates in the early primaries.
Yep! She’s not the unifying candidate I had in mind when I floated the question.

I don’t blame the voting systems. I blame the fractured GOP (Trump camp versus the Never Trumpers) and the lack of an electable GOP candidate. With Trump’s baggage today, he would have no chance, even with pre Covid election systems.

Making unsupported claims of stollen elections is a notable failure in this election and should, but wont, put an end to such claims.
That doesn’t mean that more secure voting systems shouldn’t be a goal and are critical to securing trust in the voting system. They should be.

The GOP has won the popular vote for president once in the last 30 years. You all rely on squeakers in swing states to win electorally. Maybe its not the voting but what you’re presenting to voters?

What will be the popular cumulative vote for the House this year? The AP now has 217R and 205D. NBC now projects 220R and 215D.
That might hint at the effect of gerrymandering. Though not determinative as some states may be more lopsided than other states.
Somebody way more plugged in than me would need to extrapolate that comparison. Although I would note that gerrymandering would play the same role as the EC by absorbing over-votes.
