Spot on! The big difference between Conservatives and Libs is the concept of personal responsibility. The best of parents can have kids that go bad and the worst of parents can have kids that learn from their parents, and others mistakes and turn out good by their own choices. Nevertheless, people ultimately DO make their own choices and should have to accept the consequences they bringâŠ

I donât know⊠which country has the most dead soldiers? I bet it the US
In the OP I indicated that nothing amounted to 100%. Also I said one of the answers as âmyselfâ. In other words if I got involved with drugs itâs not necessarily my parents fault I would blame myself more.

So, you donât grasp the concept and understand why it prompts democracies to spend more on defense than communist regimes or despots have to?
While I think that some social safety net programs are necessary, I also consider how they are administrated. For decades it has been far too easy to take advantage of the system. And therefore we could be saving money by cleaning up the system. Likewise there is far too much abuse of Medicare and Medicaid. Even if the government had to increase the oversight of these programs I believe that the savings would be worth it.
I disagree that government sucks at all problem solving. Sometimes they really do get it right. But I have never been a fan of the concept of simply throwing money at a problem. And sometimes we miss the boat by relying on only one âexpertâ. The majority of countries in Asia treat a problem as a group effort to find a solution.

Fair enough.
I disagree about the government and problem solving. Respectfully.
How about the understanding that we as individuals are better off when all children are educated? The so-called conservatives in your scenario need to think past lunch time.
How do you know if you are a liberal or conservative? Judging from this thread, conservatives like to assign blame for problems, while liberals look for ways to remedy the problem.

But what does that really mean? Today kids are being indoctrinated in LW ideology at a very early age. Other countries run circles around our education system because they are focused on science and math instead of political ideology.
So when you say educated children are better off, I donât disagree. But I bet we very much disagree on just about everything else regarding responsibility and our LIB run education system.

Sorry, I just couldnât help myself!
Show me a K-12 curriculum that teaches lib ideologies?
You wonât find it in the curriculum. That would be too overt and would never pass muster. Teachers wing it and have subtle ways of injecting their politics into the classroom! Ask yourself why those who are turning voting age have no clue about socialism other than they think it is better than capitalism. Whatâs really sad is that they have grown up addicted to all of the things capitalism has given them, but would quickly disappear if they actually were to vote into office a radical LW socialist.

Sounds ominous⊠got any examples?
Could it be teenagers are typically more compassionate? Wanting to help those less fortunate?
Itâs a bad assumption to make that kids learn liberalism. It could be natural.
And how has that worked out in all these liberal inner cities across America? Highest crime rates, poverty, drugs, gangs, overcrowded, lousy schools.
Yes, nearly 20 years in the profession. The history teachers at my school were all liberals and I can attest that there were days when I would listen to their lectures and it was like listening to MSNBC.
PS - We have duty periods in the hallway and my duty was usually outside my room which was right across from the History teachers classrooms.

What is âliberalâ history? Meaning what does it mean to teach history from a liberal point of view?
The problems you point out in inner cities are largely the result of historic disenfranchisement of minorities.
The âkids are being indoctrinatedâ is just utter, baseless nonsense. That you believe this confirms that we are no longer are discuuing positions, but instead are debating reality.
My comment was that society is better off when kids are educated. As part of society, I would think you would welcome that.
