Would be nice to have a special council to determine the legality and process for what they want to follow against a former President.
Maybe Mueller is available.
Study it until summer of 2022 and then come to no conclusion.
Trump may not even run again. I can’t imagine why a 78 year old Trump
would want the nonstop abuse the dems and fake media heaped on him for 4 years. He may not even be in good health by then.
I’m just saying a vote to convict him would split the party. Vote against the dems, let them take a huge hit politically and then let the voters decide as to who they want to nominate.
A rino/swamp style gop nominee will not win even in the best of times.
(Romney/McCain examples come to mind)
A nominee that espouses the Trump Policies would be great…in my mind anyway.

Rand Paul is going to force a vote on whether it is constitutional, good for him.
So, if that vote indicates there is no way they will get a conviction, should they continue to waste time?

Nope. But they(dems) will. The hate has clouded their “thinking”.

Trump should call them to the Office of the Former President and scold them for their lack of integrity.
It’s not about the politics with me. It is and has always been about the damage he causes.

Or appeal to the America Last “prez”?
A waste of time of course.

One doesn’t need a trial or crystal ball to see the final count of the vote.

Yes, I should have been more accurate.

What is the authority for the Senate to try Donald J. Trump?

But Biden is the President and he’s not on trial. The House Indictment has its remedy … the trial is moot.

Regardless of your opinion of him, Roberts has no authority to tell the Senate that they can’t hold their show trial. He’s probably as amused by the whole thing as you are.
Easy to,remove his ability to run again.
It’s one of the components of the senate trial.

No actually, it’s not. If it were to happen, it would essentially a condition to be added to his sentence of removal from office if convicted.
It’s a separate vote.
There have been cases where the impeached was convicted and not disqualified.

Except now we know in advance he won’t be convicted.

You didn’t get it.
Roberts says he doesn’t have to appear.
Constitution says Chief justice SHALL be there for impeachment of the president
The article of impeachment is for the president.
So if the Chief justice is NOT presiding . . . what office are the holding the impeachment and removal from?
Lol. It’s a political trial. Everyone knows why it is being held.
Even you.

Disqualification from running again.
It’s in the constitution.
