People I meet at work, occasionally a small business person or employee, one coworker in particular, occaisonally a client I’m doing work for. What, you think I’m making this ■■■■ up? C’mon down to south Florida and accompany me out to small towns in cattle and farm country, you’ll hear the same ■■■■■

I don’t. We get along great in these parts.

So do most people here really. But…I have many times seen these same people interact with people of color and you would never guess they would say the things they say when they think they are in like company. Outright racist jokes, little digs and backhanded comments, jokes that walk a razor’s edge. Regularly, once a week probably average, and more when I am out I the country. That’s a lot of people.

oh i am sure there are racist yahoos and ■■■■■■■■ around but this is not codified into law or policy like the democrats did in jim crow etc

no institutionalized. these people do not hold back anyone of color because of color

if they try they will quickly be caught

What parts is that just out of curiosity?

That’s pretty much what I said when I said I would not call what we have today systemic or institutionalized. It’s still a big factor. Inequity in jail sentencing is a good example. Probably not systemic, but significant enough to generate statistics that prove it’s reality.

ok but inequity in sentencing is not a problem due to racism. it is a problem in the black community

Oppression built into institutions that specifically target a race.

From Slavery to Mass incarceration… and everything in between. All institutional.

White judges sentencing blacks more harshly than they do whites in identical circumstances is not a black community problem.

examples nowadays?

Yes it is racism. It specifically targets a race.

Black people are still getting longer jail sentences for the same crimes committed by white people.

The justice system

Truth?
Piss off

Why does it depend on my definition? What’s yours?

Because you’re the one asking the question.

How can I answer if I don’t know what you’re asking?

Does it? Or does it include any institution?

What system was racist?

No they aren’t.

Ok, don’t know if I agree, but we can roll with it.

Where does that exist today?

Circumstances are never identical.
