I hate to say it but, since we’ve already blown up the economy let’s take the next step.

The president and all 50 state governors should hold an emergency meeting and at that meeting figure out exactly what it takes to shut off all non-essential travel.

That way we can isolate the outbreaks where they are within communities.

That means shut down all nonessential travel from Community to community, County to County ,state to state and internationally.

Do that for two weeks it’s not going to hurt the economy a whole lot more than what we done already.

That way we can get this over with and move on.

Communities with strict no travel orders are probably let’s say 80% effective ( my own wag based on number of out of state cars seen at our beaches in recent days. Popular National Parks have been inundated with visitors body to body in Zion and Glacier and Canyonlands which have just closed. Point is, if thousands of people nationwide violate the order, the contamination continues. Short of martial law, no way to prevent major leaks. Given that (and my hope for the drugs being effective) I think best we can expect is an ongoing problem at acceptable levels for some time.

It’s not going to be over in 2 weeks no matter what is done now

If we took such measures the pandemic in the United States and deed would be over, we still have an outbreak but not a pandemic.

If you want to stop a pandemic you quarantine and contain.

Not in 2 weeks it isn’t. New York isn’t going to peak before then. Neither will LA or New Orleans whose death totals are just starting. It’s already there. Travel restrictions is not going to magically make those cases go away.

Two weeks is the approximate duration on average of the disease in an infectee.

Travel restrictions will not stop the spread within the communities where the virus already is. I don’t like it anymore than you do but these shelter in place orders will be in effect for at least another month.

Why don’t you try reading what I’ve actually written?

This is in addition to not instead of.

Weliterally allow new clusters to form on an almost daily basis as long as we don’t restrict travel that’s how it moves from one Community to the next.

If you can cut off the movement for 2 weeks that’s the average duration of the disease in patients, that then cuts off the spread of the disease.

And none of that is getting us out of this predicament in 2 weeks time. 2 weeks from now we’ll be experiencing thousands of deaths a day from coronavirus, not a return to normal

You really don’t even want to try to understand anything about epidemiology do you?

Cut off the spread of the disease and the pandemic.

During that two weeks yes you still have additional deaths.

Yes you would have a few additional deaths that, but not nearly as many because you have cut off the spread of the disease creating new clusters and new outbreaks.

Epidemics flow like water, cut off the flow and you stop the spread.

Pour a gallon of water on your floor and see where it flows.

Then pour a gallon of water into your bathtub with the drain closed of course, see where it goes.

Then you’ll have an understanding of why quarantine and containment can cut off an the spread of a pandemic.

Not a “few additional deaths”. Thousands a day. 2 weeks from now thousands of Americans will be dying daily from Coronavirus no matter what is done now. Why are you trying to minimalize that?

No, once you break that cycle and the spread, the death rate will immediately Begin to Fall.

I’m not the one arguing against the necessity of the Shelter at home orders in place am I?

No but you’re arguing against what is necessary to cut off the spread of the disease.

No I’m not. I’m saying travel restrictions by themselves do nothing

Then what the hell have you been babbling about to the last dozen posts?

Nobody’s arguing for travel restrictions between communities instead of the measures were taking Now.

Look at the damn post that you responded to initially.

This is in addition to not instead of.

What the hell so difficult to understand about that?

What’s so hard to understand about gibberish?

As I’ve said, I’'m temporarily blind and can’t type. I do the best I can with Google voice which doesn’t like my accent.

I’ve been saying that both quarantines and travel restrictions arw not getting us out of this in 2 weeks. I’m not saying not dont do them.

We are not returning to normal by Easter. That just isn’t happening. That’s what I’m saying

Again I’m not saying they dont work. Nor am I saying not to implement them.

Im saying that the measures aren’t getting us out of this by Easter like some mistakingly believe. On Easter there will be thousands of Americans dying per day no matter what is done today or tomorrow.
