Hey Democrats, Fighting Fair Is for Suckers

I completely and totally disagree with this notion of ratcheting up the devolution of political norms. However, in the age of Trump and the GOP’s willingness to abandon norms at an ever increasing rate, could you see this becoming an eventuality?

This is a long read, but thought provoking for me, because of the genuine fear it instills in me. The tit-for-tat elimination of political norms preceded Trump to be certain. But with him, it has gained such rapid speed, that I could see this being the next move that is made.

Will this ultimately be the legacy of Donald Trump, in that he ushers in something like this, which changes our nation forever?

Atta boy! Right on!

Do you disagree?

When Cabinet members and heads of organizations like… let’s say… the EPA can repeatedly get away with ethics violations that would bring down any other administration… then yes… it is the age of Trump.

At the current rate, we are well on our way to becoming a banana republic. And yes, fighting fair is for suckers.

Tax cuts, border control, strong defense… All normal Reps issues. Becoming an open socialist party is abandoning norms.

It is truly refreshing to see the truth from the left. Faris’ list is pretty much point by point what some of us here have been saying along. If nothing else, it seems the “age of Trump” has a collateral benefit of shining a light.

A couple of my favorites:

The Senate privileges small, rural and predominantly white states, and guarantees the under-representation of the most populous parts of America.

I would have thought a PhD in political science would have required study of the founding of the government.

Grant citizenship to millions of undocumented immigrants, creating a host of new Democratic-leaning voters:

Now where have I heard that before?

All of these steps, Faris points out, could be achieved without amending the Constitution.

Imagine that. But, we’ll need this to make it happen:

Expand the Supreme Court and the federal courts, packing them with liberal judges.

Yeah, Trump is the one destroying the country.

And here we have the end goal:

They should take advantage of legal and constitutional silences to “transform American politics in a lasting progressive direction,” Faris writes.

A fundamental transformation as it were.

This is a tremendous insight into the minds of the honest left.

Thank you Nebraska, for posting it.

I sincerely hope every democrat in government buys Faris’ book and uses it as a campaign platform.

If there’s going to be war, let it be now.

That Trump has given the left an excuse to be honest? Not at all.

pay no attention to the IRS, the DOJ, FBI, and State.

He’s not going to get away with it. I don’t know what the hold up is, but he’ll get his.

You don’t know what a banana republic is, but I’m with you. If we’re going to tear it down, let’s get on with it.

History truly is circular.

Who will get his?

The worst he is going to get is a slap on the wrist and maybe have to resign. But he will still make out like a bandit.

Tom Price must feel like a real ■■■■■■■ right now seeing what he could have actually gotten away with.

We’ll see.

I think it’s refreshing to see the left waking up. Cons have been accusing the left of voter fraud, etc., for years, even though it’s complete ■■■■■■■■. The left should stop trying to take the high road.

One nation under God, indivisible:rofl:

And people wonder why I won’t recite it.

I agree. Let’s get on with it.

There were incidents of folks fighting unfairly before Trump, sure - but what Trump has done is come on the scene with rude, obnoxious, and at times indecent personal attacks and normalized such behavior. Such behavior is beneath the office of the president and contaminates the office.

One of the benchmarks of a civilized nation is the ability to disagree and debate, even heatedly, without resorting to such boorish childish behavior. If the pattern is allowed to continue, our nation will continue to devolve out of the civilized category. Unfortunately, it may already be too late to save it.

Great post for the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence too.

The 11 nations should take advantage of the opportunity to renew their vows.

Think of the peace we could have if we quit fighting the divorce for the sake if the children. Or tradition. Or why ever we are playing this game.

Trump normalized it to the point where dems are embracing, nay stealing it.

I agree. Let’s get on with it.
