President Trump publicly thanked North Korean leader Kim Jong Un Thursday for returning the remains of US soldiers who died in the Korean War; adding he looks forward to meeting the communist ruler in the near future.
The Commander-in-Chief praised Kim’s decision to return the remains just hours after Vice President Pence received the war heroes at a ceremony in Hawaii; saying he appreciates the regime’s “kind action.”
“Thank you to Chairman Kim Jong Un for keeping your word & starting the process of sending home the remains of our great and beloved missing fallen! I am not at all surprised that you took this kind action. Also, thank you for your nice letter - l look forward to seeing you soon!” Trump tweeted.
Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders released a statement regarding Kim’s actions, confirming the President and his North Korean counterpart have an “ongoing correspondence.”
“The ongoing correspondence between the two leaders is aimed at following up on their meeting in Singapore and advancing the commitments made in the US-DPRK joint statement,” Sanders said.
