That was very irresponsible for his staffers to keep tweeting while he was in the hospital battling this disease.

Wrong… Again.

Yeah, I know. Cain’s website is overloaded.

Well, I was wrong. It’s unfortunate.

Rest In Peace.

Wear a mask. Stay out of crowds.

R.I.P 999er.

Not anymore anyway. :man_shrugging:

I feel sorry for him. This is a terrible, terrible and avoidable way to go.

A good friend had this in March and was hospitalized for half the time Cain was. He spent ten days on oxygen, three days of which he refused to sleep because he did not think he’d have the will to breathe if he were not conscious.

He said it was like being what he imagined waterboarding was like for a week, and that the fear with it is overwhelming.

I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

All the more tragic if it could have been prevented.

I don’t know Herman Cain and I was not a Herman Cain supporter, but this makes me feel incredibly sad. It is incidents like this that humanize these tragedies. Yes, we cannot make policy decisions based on a single incident and many factors should be weighed when determining what is the best way overall to deal with this pandemic. Mr. Cain was only 74, had a family, and had friends that loved him. So when we discuss how we best get through this situation let’s not be so dismissive and say that it mostly affects the elderly and those with underlying conditions (e.g.: Herman Cain). The reality is it affects people’s husbands, wives, parents, sons, daughters, and grandparents. That needs to factor in.

And his ā€œteamā€ needs to stop pumping out inanities on Twitter.

ā€œHow do we know it was the COVID-19 he died from?ā€ in 3,2,1…

Get back on topic please.

Chronic hypoxia is more akin to Chronic Bronchitis, which is in the family of COPD that asthma is. They call these patients ā€œblue bloatersā€ due to it. There is actually a danger in giving them too much oxygen because they are so assimilated to this hypoxic state, it can actually shut the ventilatory drive down.

A tragedy. My prayers go to him and his family.

An absolute tragedy, my only hope is that this brings some perspective to those still resisting the reality, challenges and dangers that this virus imposes.

Well, that didn’t take long.

ā€œDonald Trump killed Herman Cain,ā€ Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King wrote, arguing that it was the president’s fault for going ahead with a campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, amid the pandemic. Cain attended the June 20 rally reportedly not wearing a mask and tested positive for the coronavirus nine days later.

Well he would still be alive if he hadn’t attended the rally or followed the President’s lead on masks
