We need more on it I have read about the awkward charges the EU levy on us and our tech companies pre Trump.
If that’s true then it’s way past due ■■■■ them.
Hate is a challenging thing to keep up with. It makes mediocre people completely retarded. ![]()
Confucius once said:
“if your side is relying on fairy stories about 5% pistachio tariffs, stop believing them and switch sides.”
One side of this discussion relies on truth.
The other side relies on fairy stories about 5% pistachio tariffs.
I’ve never seen Republicans so giddy about a tax hike.
And in the waning hours of the Biden Administration:
"Hey let’s hurry-up and call them “not-dumpers.” the best thing we can do to help America is to use the final hours of the Biden Administration to call them “not-dumpers.”
As I said, I’ve never seen Republicans this giddy about the double whammy of an inflationary tax hike.
It’s a weird world.
Color me unconcerned about Vietnamese exports of pangasius and bass fish, two items most Americans couldn’t pick out of Lets Make a Deal if they left the doors wide open.
And you can reverse engineer each countries rate by dividing our trade deficit by their exports. This is clown car economics.
I’m also glad we’ve placed a 10% tariff on our own military base and an island of penguins. Those penguins are def ripping us off.
Penguins deserve it because penguin males think they are females…they incubate the eggs.
Gender confused LIB penguins…
Not to mention the Trans-Pacific Partnership would have gotten rid of most of those Vietnamese tariffs.
Remember the TPP?
Who scuttled that again?
The world has never seen tax hikes this good, Jay. Never seen anything like 'em. Only the BEST tax hikes.
The bad news is that it will cause inflation AND unemployment. The good news is…
Big man with red hat happy.
If anyone had questions about who owns the economy, Trump or Biden, today settled it. Trump owns it every day forward.
Here’s a fun one:
Trump said Canadian tariffs on dairy products go up to “275, 300%.” Those tariffs only apply after a guaranteed amount of zero tariff dairy products has been exceeded. Guess who negotiated that? Trump. It’s in the USMCA. Guess how much dairy actually has any tariff applied? Zero. The US barely exceeds 50% of the yearly zero tariff quota.
Here’s 2023-2024.
https://www.eics-scei.gc.ca/report-rapport/Utilization_Data-Milk-24.htm
Another fun one: No tariffs on Russia. Strange, right?
Here’s something fun to think about.
Foreign company sells widgets in the US market for $5.
American company sells widgets in the US market for $6.
Tariffs are placed on foreign widgets. They now cost $10 in the US.
In a capitalist economy, does the American company continue selling widgets for $6, or since their competition is gone, start selling them for $8? Still $2 cheaper than their competitor even though they’re charging more than before tariffs were imposed.
So now the US consumer pays more for both the tariffed foreign product and for domestic products. We live in a world economy. The price of expensive foreign tariffed products set the price for domestic products.
We know who the alpha is in that relationship.
How much trade are we still doing with them?
And small to mid-sized companies…especially those who offer niche products the big boys won’t produce…who don’t have the economies of scale to either consolidate their supply chains in America or absorb the higher costs…either produce less or not at all.
So we are left with a lot of large companies selling boring ■■■■■■ products.
(I may have already posted this…either here or elsewhere lol!)
he has been saying this since you used to watch him on Oprah and hope he would run for President
was he wrong?
The trade imbalance throughout the decades has never been a secret. Are you trying to rewrite that history now like a typical leftist?
I presumed it was going to be 10% across the board and then the charts came out.
when things get this bad, the solution comes with a steeper price
I have done that below. . . (I guess by now it is above)
It is pretty dishonest to say “their 5% pistachio tariff”
Is that your own personal dishonesty or did you blindly and willfully believe someone else’s dishonesty?
From the article linked above.
unshelled pistachios will be slashed from 15 per cent to 5 per cent,
So as suspected the administration is cherry picking the higher tariffs on some sectors in order to justify their high traiffs on all products.
