Here is a Tariffs Thread

Flat taxes are flat taxes.
$100 per person is a flat tax.

Besides tariffs are progressive
Rich people buy a peole lotta shoes and new cars compared to poor people,
.
.
.
You wanna see regressive?
Social Security taxes aee regressive.

Only because of the cap, which should be abolished.

There shouldn’t be a tax on hiring people in the first place.

Wanna reduce smoking? Tax cigarettes.
Wanna reduce CO2? Tax fossil fuels.
Wanna reduce hriing? Tax hiring.

Bill Maher did.

There is a word for that…wonder what that word is.

There’s a big difference between the tariffs he said he was implimenting - as high as 90% - and what has been put in effect.

I don’t think anyone was wrong when they said 90% tariffs would blow up the economy. But they were never implimented.

The 90% tariffs were never meant to be implemented. They were used as leverage to induce serious negotiation.

It doesn’t seem like Peter Navarro is on tv as much either.

Oh good lord tippy toe much!

You clowns swore Trump was going to blow everything up…inflation would be running rampant by now.

Someday maybe before Inauguration Day 2029 y’all will figure out that everything is a negotiation with this guy….and what he’s been doing is very much working for the country. In his first term he was going to start world war 3….that didn’t happen either.

Is there a point where you lefties will ever just say “we were wrong”.

I’m very happy with what Mr Trump is doing.

He’s cleaning up the messes the kook fringe left and the democrat party made far more quickly than I thought he would.

One of Democrats’ biggest problems right now is their inability to admit the things that Trump is doing right.

Bingo! :+1:

That’s half of it…

The other half is a stubborn desire to claim all the things that hurt the country, open borders, the misnamed needless spending that costs trillions in the last four years…

That all that stupidly was a great idea and really good for the American people.

It’s like a disease and the only cure seems to be more losing

This too. Admission is a first step. Some are taking it but the rest of the party is just sitting on their hands and nodding along to “it was all a good idea”

Democrats need to be the party that has better ideas, not the party that automatically opposes all things Trump, including his good ideas.

I don’t disagree. But the GOP opposes literally EVERYTHING that democrats do and it’s working OK for them.

That’s the whole they are in power thing. The problem is that when you are out of power you need to find the way back. The only time “we are not Trump” worked was during covid for obvious reasons.

See? Trump really was palying 4-D chess. (wink)

We start at 2%… he threatens 90%… then we get 15%.

If they stop demonizing the US rich, and US corporations, and US church groups etc. etc.. . . .
If they stop the mindset that "everything the government does must be about finding an enemy among the American people, demonizing and punishing that subset of Americans . . .
If they return to their roots as the Zell Miller, Scoop Jackson, Harry Truman party of working families . . . then they have a chance.
