Not sure why this is a surprise, as not much anyone seems to expect younger adults to ever be self supporting.

Men and women in the Armed Forces are considered boys and girls by some.

The state of New Jersey, last I heard, required health insurance plans to at least allow parents to offer their children coverage under their medical plans until they’re 30 :exploding_head:. The federal mandate is 26.

It seems marriage isn’t even expected any more. Now, America’s newest relations are Baby Mommy and Baby Daddy. Hallmark will soon be coming up with cards for this relationship.

Yes, any parent who has an offspring close to 40 on their cell phone plan has gone over the top. But with young adults not expected to marry or even get a job & apply for group benefits through the employer, or even pay rent with a few roommates in some instances, we shouldn’t be surprised.

She was triggered and needed emotional support. Seems like a legitimate use of the system. Imagine the emotional trauma she was experiencing. Perhaps the system should have emotional support counselors on stand by that they could forward calls like that off to. It really sounds like that whole episode could have spun out of control and into homicide, suicide or both…

Yeah ■■■■ happens in ohio. Soon well become el ■■■■■■■ salvador and well actually have a human rights crisis on our hands thanks to dumbass entitled republican politicians who think they know more than ObGyn specialists but hey a kid acts like an idiot… wow

I can anecdotally tell you about a person who happens to be my sister, who was kicked out of my parents house at 40 and they were paying for her phone. And she’s a total right wing nutjob.

We have no idea what this woman’s political ideology is, or if she has one at all. She’s a lazy entitled doofus who was enabled by her family to be that way.

Okay, but libs

In truth, I know it seems to be a generational thing rather than a political thing. There are absolutely plenty of right wing nitwits, or perhaps nitwit parents…

Well in my parents defense there was a lot of deceit and grandkids and other things involved. It gets complicated.

This sort of thing is not politically and I deliberately presented it as non-political in the OP. Unfortunately, people take any excuse to throw a barb at the other side.

But this IS non-political.

Now in my personal case, I was raised by parents, particularly my father, who didn’t exactly dole out praise and definitely NOT the material rewards of life. If I burned my hand on the stove, I would not have gotten an iota of sympathy from him. More like, what did you just learn?

He did love my siblings and I, but he didn’t go out of his way to emphasize it.

And as I lavish here in the 1% of society, I have to thank him for ensuring I grew up with absolutely ZERO sense of entitlement, either for myself or for any other member of society.

If I want something, I get it 100% due to my own efforts. I was completely independent of my parents less than 2 weeks after high school graduation. Just enough time to get my **** together and get the **** out.

While I didn’t quite have the same detached coolness of my father towards my own children, I followed the same basic philosophy towards them as my father did towards me and my siblings. My children were independent of me and have all become successful in their lives.

If a parent gives just ONE gift to their child during their childhood, that gift should be killing, 100%, ANY sense of entitlement by that child to anything.

The issue seems obvious to me. Trump supporters here have nothing real to bash liberals with so they grasp at anything they can make up to use as a cudgel.

Just one more demonstration of how much conservative thinking has deteriorated.
