I half thought he would live forever
Rest in peace.
He leaves a complicated legacy.
Yep. He can ■■■■ straight off.
Everyone rests in paradise (even those we don’t like), but that transition can feel like an eternity when coming to terms with the experience.
Bye, now.
There there now.
Although I do not believe that he was honest with folks about the talks with Vietnam, I do believe that he did a lot to establish our relationships with China and Russia. And I think that it is telling that every POTUS after Nixon sought his input. Rest In Peace.
Good riddance
Kissinger’s history of diplomacy contrasts starkly with the “our way or the highway” approach now favored at the State Department.
Kissinger led the way in developing arms control agreements with Moscow that saved huge sums in wasteful military spending while improving the security for both countries. Since the end the Cold War, the US has abandoned every one of them, and relations with Moscow are worse than anything since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Kissinger opened up relations with China and avoided pushing Moscow and Beijing into a close relationship. Now the relationship between China and Russia is closer than any time since the Korean War, and Beijing won’t even answer phone calls from Washington. It is no accident that Xi welcomed Kissinger in a special visit last summer.
I always believed kissinger was anything other than human. As a kid, his flat affect and monotone voice , i thougjt he was a robot or vulcan.
Rest In Peace
For the record, my 'bye, now" was for HK, not you.
Hard to imagine how he had so much influence, from Nixon straight through to Trump. Looking back, his advice really did not seem that great.
Kissinger exemplifies the evil of realpolitik.
I got it the first time… and the second time., aaand the third time.
You have got to be absolute joking.
His entire position was always it’s either his (America……) way or the highway.
Kissinger exemplifies the evil of realpolitik.
Right. The tough choices
