Former Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate John Kerry weighed-in this week on the escalating tensions between the United States and Iran; accusing the Trump administration of “rushing to confrontation” with the Islamic Republic.

“I think it’s a tragedy for the world that instead of diplomacy, this administration has rushed to confrontation,” said Kerry. “This may become a war that didn’t have to happen, a war of choice by the President of the United States”

“The Obama administration engaged in negotiations with Iran because they were very close to obtaining a nuclear weapon… They were months away from having the capacity to build 10 or 12 bombs,” he added.
