Has Trump been conned into working toward a despotic cashless society? Sure seems that way

We’ve already established my behavior. I’m all about convenience and have been cashless for years.

I am honestly interested hearing your answers to the questions I asked. I see no need to trade insults in the process.

The grocery store paid taxes on what you paid.

I am waiting for Indiana to allow drivers licenses to be stores on phones. One less card to carry.

I travel to the UK fairly regular and also want passports to become paperless.

Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety [or convenience] deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.___ Benjamin Franklin,

I think the removal of cash is less about tracking and more about the ability of government to tax things.

I’ll submit this refund check I once received as the ultimate in the stupidity of checks:

Do you recall the warnings about the so-called Patriot Act, which turned out to be un-patriotic, and used as a vehicle against American citizens?

See:

“For over two decades, rogue actors within our U.S. intelligence agencies have used the Patriot Act to create the most sophisticated, unaccountable surveillance apparatus in the Western world,” said Congresswoman Luna. “My legislation will strip the deep state of these tools and protect every American’s fourth amendment right against unreasonable searches and seizures. It’s past time to rein in our intelligence agencies and restore the right to privacy. Anyone trying to convince you otherwise is using ‘security’ as an excuse to erode your freedom.”

A government created and controlled cashless society opens the door to a notoriously evil opportunity for government surveillance of every financial transaction made by American citizens, and renders their privacy meaningless.

I’m just looking to have a conversation. I’m guessing you have no interest, preferring to recite platitudes instead.

You should know better than to have an honest conversation here.

A real good read!

The War on Cash: How a Cashless Society Will Strip You of Freedom, Privacy, and Control

Conclusion: The War on Cash is the War on You

A cashless society is not progress it’s a power grab. It’s a system designed to strip you of control, privacy, and financial freedom, placing your entire existence in the hands of corporations, employers, banks, agencies and governments that have shown time and time again they cannot be trusted.

But thus far, you have offered nothing in the way of a solution, other than turning the clock back 100 years or so.

You can still pay cash for your groceries. And you already can’t pay your taxes in cash.

There is no difference in terms of surveillance between ETF payments and checks.

Your snarky remark is noted.

Aside from that, there certainly is increasing numbers who thoughtlessly and recklessly embrace their cashless transactions. But there are significant dangers involved.

The loss of financial privacy is very real, and allows nefarious folks in government to track and know how you spend every dime, in addition to knowing your personal and sensitive information, which becomes an open book and poses significant risks, especially those of a political nature if you are not “politically correct”.

Let us not forget how members of the Canadian Freedom Convoy had their bank accounts frozen by government, and were not even charged with any crimes, but suffered such consequences for participating in a political protest.

And how about Julian Assange (Wikileaks), when multiple financial institutions blocked donations to him following pressure from our government officials?

Moving to a cashless society would fling open the door and encourage nefarious folks in government, to enforce political correctness by shutting down your ability to engage in financial transactions if you dare to show dissent. And that is why this conversation is of the utmost importance.

"John Adams said, in 1775, “Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud.” It is the only thing a people determined to be free can do. Republics have often failed, and have been succeeded by the most revolting despotisms; and always it was the voice of timidity, cowardice, or false leaders counseling submission, that led to the final downfall of freedom. It was the cowardice and treachery of the Senate of Rome that allowed the usurper to gain power, inch by inch, to overthrow the Republic. The history of the downfall of Republics is the same in all ages. The first inch that is yielded to despotism - the first blow, dealt at the Constitution, that is not resisted - is the beginning of the end of the nations ruin.” ___ An excerpt from the “Old Guard”

Let us be on guard and make certain that “cash remains king”.

You are already being tracked countless times per day - by your phone, apps, using a lotalty card, driving a car, watching TV and internet use. Heck even kitchen appliances are connected to the web these days and lets not forget good old CCTV. There is no way to turn back the clock.

I agree that people should not be forced into going cashless but the truth is millions of people choose to do so because its convenient and safer than carrying cash.

Once again, you offered no solution.

there is no difference in terms of privacy or security between an ETF transaction and writing a check.
