The pilot is reportedly 47-years-old with a lot of flight experience.
The plane was reportedly flying inverted before it crashed.
Don’t be a menace to South Carolina while flying your F-35 in the trees.

I thought they were supposed to point them out to sea before ejecting.

One would certainly think so. One thing (of many) missing from this story is the exact position of the plane at the moment the pilot ejected. Was it close to the coast with nothing (like tall buildings) in between?
