The people hiring someone to be a prestigious university president SHOULD care about the candidates published history and ethics. If they got excited and skipped their due diligence….why?

I would be shocked if they did.

I think this kind of thin examples of plagerism (which as I detail above, IMO, aren’t all plagerism and those that might be are pretty tame) didn’t surface until people started hating on her for her answers in front of congress.

It’s unrealistic to think a search committee is going to do a plagerism search on every peice a candidate writes.

This brings up a question - how did these examples come to light? Who took the time to track them down?

I read an article from the Harvard Crimson that they interviewed over 600 people for that job. One wonders how many were more qualified and weren’t known plagerists. I ll bet there were even a few historic “1st Evers” in that big sample.

TLDR Just because there may be more qualified people available, doesn’t mean the person selected isn’t qualified.

Have you ever been a hiring manager before?

There are ALWAYS people who are more qualified on paper than the person you ultimately select. There are ALWAYS more people who ACE the interview that don’t get selected.

What you want, however, is to make sure that everyone you do interview meets the baseline qualifications. It doesn’t matter if you are the Emperor of DEI… NO hiring manager is going to select someone who is unqualified. Why? Because that hiring reflects the leadership qualities of the hiring manager… if a hiring manager continually hires unqualified people… they usually get fired.

In the process of interviewing often the most qualified doesn’t get the offer or doesn’t accept. This can be for many reasons but usually

1. Any one Uber qualified probably is interviewing for multiple positions… so they have options
2. Salary
3. Location
4. Job Requirements
5. Culture

Etc. When are you interviewing at the level of the Harvard President… the interview process is truly a two way street.

I think it is like lots of things (eg being a supreme court nominee, being a presidential candidate etc…)

When she was just a lame-o propagandist masquerading as a college professor she could get away with a lot of garbage . . . but once she molly-coddled terrorism, mass rape, genocide an cutting-off breasts and tossing them around the room like a party game while the victim is being sodomized and stabbed every time she flinches etc. she put herself under a microscope.

They should have known more than we know.

And based on what’s been presented so far it’s completely ■■■■■■ that she was hired. Students get expelled for significantly better and less obvious plagiarism.

If you look at those examples carefully, not all of them are plagiarism.

It doesn’t matter to me - I think she should have been fired for her testimony on capital hill.

But there is a bit of piling on here.

If Justice is not served when the person legitimately should have been punished for cause, piling on can be the only way to achieve it.

Of course it is… how else are they that over represented?

Then you look at the number of them that have been fired… they were clearly unqualified if they were fired. That is what happens when they get hired based on their race and sex.

The first highlighted phrase, in my experience, would not be considered plagerism.

This is a statement of common fact. There is no research or original thought being pirated. It is simply stating a fact.

You are right … she easily could have restated that in her own words. As @LucyLou said, she was lazy.

Another good reason to not hire someone.
