Friday June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples day, its a good day to learn about Native American history and struggles.
VANCOUVER—National Indigenous Peoples Day needs to be marked by non-Indigenous people as a way of supporting and connecting with Indigenous cultures that are still very much alive and thriving, says a cultural studies teacher at Vancouver’s Native Education College.
As National Indigenous Peoples Day kicks off on June 21, Indigenous leaders and event organizers are encouraging settlers (those who are non-Indigenous) to celebrate the day with both meaning and respect.
