I was no fan of Carter when he was president, but he is arguably the most honest man to occupy the office in many decades.

Carter conducted a massive reduction in force in the CIA’s clandestine operations. He even successfully prosecuted Mark Felt (aka “deep throat”), the head of the FBI’s COINTELPRO for violations of civil rights. In retrospect, that took a lot of courage.
