4:05 PM ET - David Schoen, Civil Liberties Attorney, J.Christian Adams, President of the Public Interest Legal Foundation and editor at PJ Media, and Gregg Jarrett, Fox News Legal Analyst and author of the upcoming release, The Russian Hoax, The Illicit Scheme to Clear Hillary Clinton and Frame Donald Trump, are here to discuss and analyze the Mueller probe, the leaked questions, the possible subpoena of President Trump and the hint that Ivanka Trump may be questioned next. Last night former Mayor, and counsel to the President, Rudy Giuliani was on Sean’s show, he, of course, made news with these comments:
The big news on cable last night derived from Sean Hannity’s interview of Rudy Giuliani in Giuliani’s new capacity as Trump’s attorney (CNN report here, partial New York Times transcript here). In the course of the interview, Giuliani dropped the bombshell that, previous statements by Trump and Trump attorney Michael Cohen to the contrary notwithstanding, Trump has reimbursed Cohen for his $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels (Stephanie Clifford).
UPDATE: According to President Trump this morning, the reimbursement to Cohen took place through a monthly retainer and “had nothing to do with the campaign.” Trump stated on Twitter that Cohen received a monthly retainer “from which he entered into, through reimbursement, a private contract between two parties, known as a non-disclosure agreement, or NDA.” The president added: “The agreement was used to stop the false and extortionist accusations made by her about an affair.”
5:05 PM ET - Jonathan Gilliam, author of the newly released book, Sheep No More, and Danielle McLaughlin, an Attorney & Constitutional Expert who co-wrote The Federalist Society: How Conservatives took the Law Back from Liberals, debate the news of the week. Former FBI Director James Comey had the audacity to say that he believes one of the greatest strengths of Hillary Clinton was her respect for the rule of law. Was that exhibited when she was NOT sworn in for her Benghazi testimony? How about when she raised funds for Haiti that never went to Haiti? Or was is when she deleted the 30k emails that were subpoenaed by Congress and she decided she didn’t feel like turning them over?
James Comey is beginning to remind me of David Brock. In the mid-1990s, Brock wrote a book that criticized Hillary Clinton, though not to the degree many on the right hoped for. He then spent the next two decades sucking up to Hillary.
Comey publicly criticized Clinton’s handling of classified emails, though he did not lower the boom that many on the right hoped for. Now Comey seems obsessed with gaining Hillary’s forgiveness. (H/T POWERLINE)
5:30 PM ET - Byron York, is the chief political correspondent for the Washington Examiner, a Fox News contributor and the author of The Vast Left Wing Conspiracy, he did the hard work and figured out just how strong the relationship is between liberal broadcasters and the Stormy Daniels story. While President Trump is working on trade and freeing prisoners from North Korean prisons, the liberal media is making sure you stay up to the minute on Stormy’s porn tour.
In a new Quinnipiac poll, 71 percent of Democrats say they would like to see President Trump impeached if Democrats win the House. Just 21 percent oppose the idea, while 8 percent aren’t sure. By way of contrast, 38 percent of independents support impeachment, while 54 percent oppose.
So where does that leave Pelosi and other Democratic leaders? Her instincts are as cautious as they were in 2006 — and at this moment, Trump’s job approval rating in the RealClearPolitics average, around 42 percent, is higher than Bush’s was when Pelosi declared Bush impeachment off the table.
But 71 percent — those Democrats who want to see Trump impeached — is a big number. It suggests that Pelosi, or whoever leads House Democrats if the party wins in November, might not be able to overrule the base and simply declare impeachment a non-starter. (H/T Rocky Mountain Telegram)
