I am partial to Marilyn Manson when it comes to keeping it creepy 
Oingo Boingo’s “Dead Man’s Party” is also essential, although my favorite song from them is equally suitable for Halloween:
yeah, you’re right. that’s a great track and it was featured during the best kill in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
Maybe slap some joy division on there for effect. Someone released an album or two of original John Carpenter stuff last year which was pretty great.
