Gwyneth Paltrow wins explosive US legal battle after ski crash trial

This was never anything more than somebody trying to milk a payday from a celebrity. Glad to see she fought it instead of settling and that she won.

Civil plaintiff trial bar = ZERO

I’ve never quite heard anything like some clips of the damages testimony I saw on Twitter. It was like a SNL sketch.

“Ever since the accident, he’s not himself. He doesn’t even enjoy wine tastings anymore.”

Glad that poor rich person won against that evil rich person.

Did the plaintiff have to pay for Paltrow’s costs to defend herself?

Because he should.

Yes, Paltrow asked for a symbolic $1 judgement, plus her attorney’s costs and court costs, which she won.

That dude had no evidence that she caused the accident.

I’ve snowboarded in Park City once, wonder if it was that resort, don’t remember the name.

This is the Judicial Oath sworn by all Justices and Judges of the United States. Most State Judges must swear a similar oath.

“I, _________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as _________ under the Constitution and laws of the United States.

I don’t follow celebrities, so I don’t know much about Paltrow. But as the oath above states, whatever kind of person she is or isn’t or how much money she has is irrelevant.

And that is exactly what happened in this case. By the time the testimony was complete and the evidence all out in the open, it was clear this optometrist was lying and merely seeking a payday. In all respects, this was the classic example of an abusive tort case filed by a plaintiff. The Judge was even handed, the jury saw through the plaintiffs lies and the defendant prevailed. The plaintiffs own social media posts did a great deal to impugn him, showing a man continuing to enjoy the high life, despite his supposed injuries at the hands of Paltrow.

Bottom line here is that an abusive plaintiff did not get the unjust payday he was seeking.
