Guess when Rosenstein's termination date

After Judith Miller, I should trust the Times further than I can throw the Business section, but I still have a hard time thinking they’d fall for it again. They got burned by access journalism during the runup to the war.

Who knows, maybe they’re that gullible and their institutional memory of their own failings is that short.

I’m not going directly there yet, though.

I wouldn’t put it passed Kelly to be the source for this. He has credibility in proximity. He is named as being told direct of the suggestion. He has seen the chaos first hand. And he may believe this is the impetus needed to convince Trump to execute a Saturday Night Massacre as a means to draw him into impeachment proceedings. Which even if he is not convicted in the Senate, it would handcuff him for the rest of his time in office.

Remember, there are factions fighting it out in this WH right now. And apparently even a core resistance among the upper echelons of the administration. And the NYT would not have to be privy to the larger scheme here, to move with a story like this from a source like Kelly.

All speculation on my part of course. But as a potential explanation.

If this happens, Rosenstein, Kelly, …what restrictions would be placed on what they had to say to the press the next day?

I viewed this release through the lens of a Marc Antony in the administration, not a Brutus.

Hell, lately the NYT seems to prefer it that way.

Meh, I have trouble giving him any benefit of the doubt or casting him as any different than the rest of the circus.

From ABC New’s reporting on the subject, which appears to be from the same set of anonymous sources.

One source who was in the meeting confirmed that Rosenstein did make a remark about recording Trump with the use of a wire. But the source insists: “The statement was sarcastic and was never discussed with any intention of recording a conversation with the president.”

This seems like a Hail Mary by some of the actors to remove Rosenstein, but they are unaware that this action would not stop the train wreck of pain that is ahead of them.

So far we’ve seen that the plans this WH thinks are the most clever only support weight for 2-5 days. Then Trump says tweets from the toliet or talks to Lester Holt and the facade crumbles.

So something weird is happening, and we’ll know all about it sooner than later.

I believe recent news suggested that Trump had warmed to Rosenstein for some reason.

But that was a few weeks back so who knows.
