Trying to convince people to sacrifice comfort to prevent climate change is a fool’s errand. You’d think Thunberg would have figured that out by now. But your thread title isn’t accurate. She didn’t say humanity would end in five years, she said humanity would end if we didn’t “stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”

One way or another humanity will eventually end, so I guess she’s right. :smile:

To be fair, she didn’t really say humanity would be wiped out in that time frame, more like eventually wiped out if we didn’t stop using fossil fuels by that date.

A total example of how the media can create a celebrity. She took some boat from Sweden to New York and the media, particularly the New York Times made a huge deal about it. Why? Who decided it would be a big deal?
If some,16 year old daughter of a pro second amendment activist had done that, they would have had a nice trip across the Atlantic and that would have been it.
Another example of creating the news, not reporting the news.
