A veteran of the Second World War had a unique idea to celebrate his 100th birthday last month; asking for 100 cards on Facebook and social media from around the country.

What he received was more than 100,000 cards, according to the Veterans Affairs North Texas Healthcare System.

“I’m so happy to get all of these cards,” said James South. “I want them up on my walls so I can enjoy them every day.”

“It’s so great to see our patient, Mr. South, thoroughly enjoying life and playing golf with his son at 100 years—we should all be so fortunate,” said Doctor Stephen Hold, Director of the VA North Texas Hospital.
