Except for, you know, that damned Constitution.

The problem is this concept of balkanized “self-governance” is that you can continue it recursively.
What if north-northeastern Oregon doesn’t wan’t to be part of eastern Oregon? What’s to stop the same argument applying to individuals?

Is self determination the right of all peoples?
It’s a messy thing. But the alternatives can become worse.
Does every individual have the right to withdraw from laws they don’t like?
How far does “self-determination” go?
Do I have the right to declare that my apartment has seceded from the State of Virginia?

There is literally no one who finds Idaho intriguing.
We find it beautiful and amazing.

Boise is definitely picking up from what I have been reading it is one of the hottest housing markets in the country.
Too bad the liberals are starting to take over there. There is quite a difference between Southern and Northern Idaho politically.
That law would not apply in this case, since no new state is being formed.
If something has happened before legally, it can happen again legally. Calling it illegal this time around, because you don’t like it this time, is not an actual argument.

“…nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States,…”
They aren’t joining two states at the junction to become a totally new state (#51), they are just wanting to add to one existing state. Semantically not the same thing.

The Constitution does not read ‘totally new State’. Its plain text is simple: no State can be formed from two other States, or parts of States, unless the legislatures and Congress approve:
"…;nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or Parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.”
I get that and don’t disagree with the procedure, but in reality they aren’t “forming a state”, a state already exists, the boundaries are just changing.

You’re reading it incorrectly.
No state is being formed.

Are the state borders being changed?
