Bad news, new Texas immigrants are more conservative than current Texans.
from Gov. Abbott: New Texas voters are more conservative than natives
Pointing to the election of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, Abbott notes that Cruz received 57 percent of the vote from transplants who moved from other states to Texas. The poll margins match a poll conducted by his campaign, he says, as new Texas voters are more conservative, “fleeing” from liberal governments like California.

Yes, of course. I will the rapidly-partisan governor’s word for it.
Because we know he has no motive to lie.

You had a much better shot before Biden invited the entire southern hemisphere to crash the Texas border.
Not every Governor can be a virtuous Democratic paragon like Cuomo.
I know you think you’re being cute, but Cuomo can go ■■■■ himself. I’ve hated him longer than you’ve known he existed.

I’ve probably known of him longer than you’re assuming, but I do respect that you’re not an ideologue.
It’s possible.
But I have - both personally, and politically - intensely disliked Andrew Cuomo since he first ran for governor, almost 20 years ago.
My dislike has only grown since then.

No need to take his word alone.
from Will Texas flip because of blue state migrants? Don’t bet on it - Texas Public Policy Foundation
The poll found that compared to native Texans, people who moved to Texas were more likely to have voted for President Trump, with voters born in Texas favoring Trump over Clinton by 7 percent compared to transplants favoring Trump by 12 percent. Remember, Trump won Texas by 9 percent in 2016.
Shouldn’t be that hard to believe, who is more likely to be unhappy and leave California?

I’m not going to take the word of his campaign staff, either.
Let me see the polls.
Does the law preclude counties from reassigning themselves to other states?
It’s not going to happen.
If they want to enjoy the laws etc. that they envy in Idaho they can move. If they don’t want to move, they can suck it up or try to change the system they live under.

Or maybe jersey does right by all.
Everyone in south jersey has the same opportunity and move if they don’t like the state.

Uh, well, I assume laws differ, and it depends on the two states involved. Certainly both states would have to agree to it, a county can’t just reassign itself into another state.
Many examples in this thread of the exact type of thinking that triggered the first revolution.
Here’s an honest philosophical self governance question:
If eastern Oregon wants to leave and has the support of those voters actually in eastern Oregon, why can western Oregon out vote the people that want to leave? That’s not self governance, it’s forced governance, and something we have fought and argued against all over the world especially Eastern Europe during the Cold War.
