Former Representative Trey Gowdy weighed-in Sunday on the ongoing FISA abuse scandal sweeping the Department of Justice; saying the FBI gave “two different briefings” to the Trump and Clinton campaigns during the 2016 election.
“Former South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy suggested that the FBI gave preferential treatment to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2016 when advising the presidential candidates on how to deal with the threat posed by foreign actors,” reports the Washington Examiner.
“You want to think of law enforcement as being unbiased and disinterested in the outcome as long as we just find the facts. But when you have information that someone you think has done something wrong has, in fact, not done something wrong, when you have exculpatory information and you don’t share it with others and then you put that together with Strzok and Page and the defensive briefings … the defense of [former FBI Director James] Comey and the media and the Democrats has always been, yeah, some of the FBI was biased against Trump, and it didn’t really matter. This really matters,” Gowdy said.
“When you give two different kinds of defensive briefings to the candidates depending on who you like and who you don’t, then your bias begins to impact the investigation. That’s what I saw when I saw the transcripts,” he added.
Gowdy weighed-in last Month on the ongoing FISA abuse scandal sweeping the Department of Justice; saying unearthed FBI transcripts could be a “game changer” on the agency’s activities during the 2016 election.
“Unreleased transcripts from secretly recorded conversations between FBI informants and ex-Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos could be game-changing if the public were ever allowed to see them, according to former Rep. Trey Gowdy,” reports Fox News.
“If the bureau’s going to send in an informant in, the informant’s going to be wired, and if the bureau is monitoring telephone calls, there’s going to be a transcript of that,” he said.
“Some of us have been fortunate enough to know whether or not those transcripts exist. But they haven’t been made public, and I think one, in particular … has the potential to actually persuade people,” he said. “Very little in this Russia probe I’m afraid is going to persuade people who hate Trump or love Trump. But there is some information in these transcripts that has the potential to be a game-changer if it’s ever made public.”
Gowdy stopped by ‘Hannity’ last week to comment on the Attorney General’s recent appointment of a US attorney to investigate the origins of the Russia probe; saying he wants to know how the FBI “assessed” Christopher Steele and his now-debunked dossier.
“What questions would you like answered?” asked Hannity.
“This is the fourth person in charge of investigating the origins of the Russia probe, so I’m more interested in how quickly they do it and how effectively they do it,” said Gowdy.
“There’s an easy roadmap to follow… I want to know the origins of when the bureau began to intermingle the Trump campaign with the Russia probe. What are the origins? Then I want to know how the FBI assessed Christopher Steele; they have their own internal documents,” he added.
