Unless you have served you have NO CLUE what this Commandant is doing to the Corps. Marines are tired of the ■■■■■■■■ political games being played and are leaving. Good Marines are being pushed out because of the games being played and the result will be a weaker Corps.

Marines are the only branch that HAD their own armored forces, artillery, fixed and rotary wing forces, cargo carrying capacity, etc. The only thing “outsourced” was medical, Navy provides the medical side. This General has deactivated ALL tank units, that alone reduces their effectiveness in being “America’s 911 force”.

This is NOT a slam on Marines, but on the weak leadership.

The guy you are slamming is a Marine.

Then he should know what damage the current Commandant is doing. He should also know that “marine corp” is insulting to Marines who have earned the right to be called Marines, not marines.

I also am a Marine, 85-92, and know several Active Duty Marines and some that have gotten out BECAUSE of the lack of leadership from our top Officers.

No, thank you. I just get pissed at people who have never served a minute in uniform telling those that have how to do our job.

The job of the military is to win wars using overwhelming force, to provide humanitarian relief when needed. Not to fight with with their hands tied behind their backs. War should be the LAST resort, but, when it is required, to destroy the enemy. Anything less leads to drawn out conflicts.

Respectfully this literally applies to no other profession for some reason. Many here opine on how doctors lawyers scientists basically any profession should do their job and how they should act.

Mmmmm. I can see how it might appear that way from the outside.

There is a huge key difference in leadership requirements.

Namely manager vs leader. Leadership requires a moral authority. Men don’t throw themselves at death because some guy with stars told them to. They do it because they believe.

Beyond the first term, I would agree. I know a lot of people who join for one term as a stepping stone, or to get the GI bill, or learn some skills. Beyond that, calling.

I think being a doctor is a calling too. At least most of them.
