Allan

Great news. any number above zero is good news. Please don’t start with the meh stuff. Seriously. Please.

Government employment continued to trend up in January (+32,000), similar to the average
monthly gain in 2024 (+38,000).

Not good.

February will be a different direction I think.

It will probably take a while.

And probably wont effect local government jobs

Close

  • Manufacturing is stagnant (zerojobs created)
  • Warehouse clubs (Sam’s Club, Costco etc.) hired a LOT
  • Government and government adjacent jobs are up a LOT
  • The rest of the jobs market is stagnant. (10,700 new jobs)

May be that’s where former government employees are successfully finding jobs. - warehouse stores :blush::blush:

Here is another Table.
Obviously the numbers on the two tables do not match
(The BLS’s A-Tables and B-Tables never do. Nor are they typically intended to) but they reveal someting very interesting.

very few of the government jobs created (32,000) went to foreign born.

Allan

True.

You know how net figures are calculate, right?

Persons born here lose x,000 programming jobs,
persons born here gain 32,000 gov’t jobs.
Net gain 8,000.

Meanwhile the net gain to perons born abroad was much higher,
so much higher it obviously must be impacting wages etc…

In case it helps you figure things out,
here are some of the biggest losers

All we can do is hope.

Also…let me interpret the word “immigrants”. Removing the lib speak, it’s mostly referring to illegal aliens.

And the latest job report showed, on paper at least, that in January over 99% of all new jobs went to “persons born abroad.”

I have no doubt it is because of some sort of revision, or new method of counting etc., but I do like to jab people with it once in a while.

if there are 32,000 new govt jobs, you just posted a falsehood.

immigrants usually do not get govt jobs (elon musk expected lol)

Allan

You are not that stupid.
Tell me you are not that stupid.

You really don’t understand what a net figure is?
