I never said he shot him with the gun he picked up. I said he picked up the perps gun, and then shot him one last time.

He did exactly that.

OK I thought you were claiming he shot him one last time with gun he picked up.

Here’s more on this:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/armed-diner-who-shot-dead-robber-in-houston-restaurant-heist-to-face-grand-jury/ar-AA16baXQ?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=87eeea758c8543ae8f2fa3364c83da9b

He did society a favor:

Records indicate that the robbery suspect, Eric Washington, had an extensive criminal history and was out on bond at the time of the fatal shooting.

In 2015, Washington was convicted of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and sentenced to 15 years in prison in connection with the fatal shooting of 62-year-old Hamid Waraich two years prior.

Here’s another story:

The home intruder, who was out on parole after serving two decades in prison for armed robbery, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said he was also the suspect in a carjacking hours before he broke into the family’s home.

He earned his end.

And no doubt a good case will be made about the 8 self-defense shots.

His chances of this being dismissed are a hell of a lot better in Texas than NYC!

Never said they did. I simply answered the question as to whether continuing to shoot a perp after theIr gun falls from their hand is legal or not. It must be … Cops do it.

There has been a string of articles with the media trying to gin up outrage against the homeowner in this incident.

A common quote from those articles: “No car or material possession is worth a life — under any circumstances. …"

Maybe after enough incidents where the owner takes matters into his own hands, the message to thugs will be: “No car or material possession is worth losing your life over — under any circumstances."

Washington D.C.? He might be in some trouble.

It will probably rest on what the coroner says as to which shot was the lethal shot.

Sounds like they turned him loose too quick from prison.

We shouldn’t need “Good Guys with a Gun.” But because of the way government has changed with respect to handling of criminal issues, more and more people are going to despair and resort to self-serve handling of criminal issues they encounter.

Not in Houston

Definitely not in Harris County.

And then there is the Good Guy with the garden hose.

Although that probably belongs in the San Fran thread.

That’s true.

Should have never trusted government – who may get there in a half an hour or so – with the job in the first place.
