As for finding us, if they have the capability to detect us from long distances, should be a snap, puny humans did this in four years.
Also the relativistic effects would suck.

If they are advanced aliens we ARE at their mercy.
This ain’t the movies, you know.
So they can afford to wait, for whatever reason they may have. You can’t extrapolate from what humans would do, they aren’t human.
Will Smith would still whoop E.T.'s ass.
If the alternative is death, may as well go down trying to avoid it, no matter what the odds of success. Doesn’t matter if it’s a trillion to one long shot. You can send me with a bowie knife if no one else will go.
We don’t even know what “it” is.
But we still are at their mercy whether one chooses to face it with bravado or not.
Current hypothetical being discussed is hostile aliens seeking domination or annihilation of humans.
Don’t care if it’s futile, you still fight.

That’s the whole point. If their intentions are hostile, they wouldn’t wait until we were capable of defending ourselves. And if their intentions are not hostile, they would do whatever they could to prevent us from over reacting to their presence and develop technology to attack them. Any beings intelligent enough and advanced enough to come here over such vast distances would be intelligent enough to recognize what a violent and potentially dangerous species we are.

If a virus was the solution, it is far more likely that they would infect us than the other way around.
You suggested we retool our entire economy/way of life to battle a hypothetical that has scant evidence and wondered why we were concentrating on things like global warming or police reform for which there is far more evidence something need be done.
That’s not even worthy of serious consideration absent FAR more compelling evidence that advanced aliens are actually here and actually have hostile intent.
(And as stated, if both the above are true, there would be no doubt about it. Hostile advanced aliens wouldn’t be screwing around…they’d be getting down to business).

Nobody will remember your name.
Umm no, we don’t know it’s aliens, only talking about our response if they are and are hostile.
Their invasion could suddenly stop in its tracks as they all die of Kung Flu.
No you mentioned current issues and rolled your eyes at them because of the “alien threat”.
I can quote your specific posts if you wish.

Maybe that’s what they are waiting for … the development of vaccines against all Earth viruses.

And yes, if there are UAP with capabilities far beyond
our own operating with impunity in our airspace, be they human or alien, I am, because it is the only sane response. That isn’t something you get around to when it’s convenient.
Well anywho, my bet is the UAP’s in question are archeological in origin*, and American in modern use.
*How we originally obtained them, not where they were originally assembled.
