Global warming is real

Both today are filled with dogmatics.

Over the last 40 years? Sure.

Now demonstrate that we didn’t have similar warming in previous inter glacial cycles.

It hasn’t been constant.

Well, around these parts, mid Georgia, we have had a very overcast July. Temps overall have been lower than normal. Yea, we have had some hot days, but not as many as usual.

We didn’t even reach 90 hear today and this time of year 110 is pretty common. The last ten days prior was well within the norms of the last 40 years so if we go with Old Guy’s metrics it’s time to panic about the coming ice age.

The “experts*” are telling us that even if all industrial countries cut CO2 emissions by 100% (not counting exhilaration) that the effect on reduction of the predicted increase in the global temperature by 2100 is only about 0.2 C. Even a 50% reduction in CO2 by all countries fonly yields a 0.13 C reduction. And if only the US went all in an eliminated all f our emissions, it only shaves a mere 0.1 C off of the predicted rise. Does anyone seriously think that is worth it to obliterat our economy to accomplish that?

Apparently, some do. Well, as long as they don’t have to suffer.

And some never suffer, they only profit, " Al Gore ".

Well, of course, there is that as well…:moneybag:

But the greenhouse… the greenhouse …

I have yet to see a greenhouse have a runaway meltdown. How about you?

See, now you are just vectoring him… Er sorry, I mean hectoring him. Well, you know what I mean… It’s the same thing

So then explain why every liberal is not living is a solar powered house, driving an electric car and hanging their clothes out to dry? Global warming does not make the top twenty of issues that most Americans worry about. You have been trying to convince conservatives to worry about this for decades. And you are failing. BIGLY.

May I suggest a different approach? Why not challenge other liberals to change their habits? If 100 million U.S. liberals all went solar, that would be huge. What are you waiting for. Stop complaining and do it.

Not only that.

Inside a greenhouse, the CO2 concentrations are actually less than outside the greenhouse. The reason is … the plants inside “eat” the stuff.

He did go solar. And, if I am not mistaken sells the electricity back. Maybe even got tax credits. Not that I have anything against that. Smart move on his part and he is putting his money where his mouth is.

What’s wrong it being a construct? Constructs of the human mind are extremely useful and less limited than reality.

You don’t really think that the 8-9 billion people on the planet a century or two from now will want to eat food do you?

It’s a false choice. We don’t have to suffer to control emissions.

Good! Good! But you missed my point. He is barking up the wrong tree. Rather than try to convince conservatives to agree with him, which has been a massive failure, why not convince millions of liberals to get off the grid? In other words, don’t waste your time with people who will never care about this cause. Go after the liberals who are not walking the talk. If they all switch, the impact would be enormous. And maybe then, some conservatives may begin to follow.

Hogwash. We can’t possibly produce enough power without using fossil fuels not to mention we generate a huge amount of CO2 from other sources such as simply turning the soil.
