The United States Department of State issue a “worldwide caution” for Americans abroad Monday; urging US citizens to remain vigilant while traveling outside the country during the Fourth Of July holiday weekend and beyond.

“As terrorist attacks, political violence (including demonstrations), criminal activities, and other security incidents often take place without any warning, U.S. citizens are strongly encouraged to maintain a high level of vigilance and practice good situational awareness when traveling abroad,” writes the warning.

The last global alert was issued January 2018.

The warning comes just hours after the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack in Cleveland Monday; arresting one individual who vowed to “pack a van” with explosive and detonate the vehicle during the city’s Fourth of July festivities.
