God forbid, but going back to the actual topic of this thread.
This was a just verdict.
It is plain as day as to the vicious lies, defamation and slander that Giuliani unleashed against these two completely innocent women and that the above were delivered with malicious intent.
And just as important, it is plain as day as to the EFFECT these lies, defamation and slander had on the women. Constantly stalked and threatened and subject vile and threatening harassment 24/7, all for something that was a 100% lie.
It doesnât matter that they will likely see very little of the award.
It matters that the award was issued in that huge amount.
There are plenty of scum on Earth like Rudy Giuliani and Alex Jones who will maliciously lie and defame and destroy anybody to accomplish their aims.
The only effective deterrent is ruinous economic awards.
Hopefully, they will deter others from opening their mouths and lying and deliberately defaming others.
And I do think both Jones and Giuliani crossed a line where I believe criminal sanctions would be warranted.
The First Amendment protects free speech. It does not protect slander, libel or defamation, particularly when that slander, liberal or defamation results in harassment of persons or threats of bodily violence.
Obviously, criminal sanctions should be reserved for the most heinous and obvious cases, of which I believe Jones and Giuliani both qualify.

To be honest, I wish both parties would run different candidates in 2024. I did vote Biden in 2020, but it was more of a vote against Trump than a vote for Biden. The day Trump used McCain to attack POWâs was the day I decided I would vote in a way to do everything I could to ensure that he stayed out of office. The reasons for me are personal - I have a grandfather, now deceased, who was a WWII POW in a Japanese camp. To this day, I canât get the images of him waking up screaming from nightmares in his later years when I was helping to take care of him out of my head. For me, a vote to support Trump would be spitting on my grandfatherâs grave.
Quite frankly, I can barely remember the last time I voted for a candidate for President rather than against the other guy. Fortunately (for me) I am at the end of the selection process. By the time I vote, the results are fairly well known most of the time. That frees me up to vote third party ⌠a vote against both D and R candidates.

Iâd say a million dollars each after lawyerâs fees would be about right.
No matter what the final outcome is, these women will be far better off financially than if they had never been slandered. But I hope they are prepared for the onslaught of locust descending on them with open hands hoping to cash in on their good fortune.

Trump is not particularly Conservative, and he certainly isnât Republican. IMO, he is a crass, brash, hyperbole slinging, narcisistic egotist who for some reason a lot of people look at and say, âHey! Heâs cool. I think Iâll vote for him just to spite everyone else.â
Trump is not an ass kissing sleazy politician that has grifted millions of dollars enriching himself and his family while â â â â â â â middle class taxpayers.
Trump could be categorized as a sleazy businessman and all the descriptive adjectives listed above. The DC establishment spent years and millions of taxpayers money to rid themselves of Trump the outsider. Trumpâs popularity exists because heâs got the wherewithal to say what people are thinking and feeling. Heâs done some positive things and been the â â â â â â â he doesnât pretend not to be.
But even with Covid and the blm/Antifa assaults on US cities, look around, the country and the â â â â â â up world weâre better off than the last 3 years with the â â â â show currently in charge.
Yeah, thatâs cool. âI think Iâll vote for him to spite everyone else.â

Are they ready for the â â â â â â â psychopaths who still think they were rigging an election and need to be tried for treason and executed? Because those â â â â â â â exist. Because of the lies by Giuliani and his ilk above and below him and there are people on this forum TODAY!!! that still believe it.

US tax dollars come from US citizens. Of course they deserve the benefit of the Government spending them.

Safiel, thanks for your information, we all appreciate it. But I really am lost when it comes to damages. I feel like oftentimes those come down but is that the sitting judgeâs determination? I really donât know how that works.

That too. Will $75 million each fix it better than $1 million? Iâd wager that it would make them a bigger target to the loonies.
