Not sure if it’s the same but during the Europe migrant crisis of 2016 the vice president of the EU (forgot his name but remember the numbers) a nice liberal chap estimated 60% of the migrants had no more right to be in Europe than anyone else in the world and where largely economic migrants.
60% is a big number I would imagine and it’s just a hunch that percentage is much higher for economic migrants coming from south of the border of the U.S.
I’m not. I have a real ID that could call up an image of my birth certificate.
We know what you’re getting at. I am clearly of European background and have an accent that would be immediately recognizable as a born in Texas accent. It’s “racist” if an ICE agent would pay little attention to me. But the problem is common sense would tell him that I did not come into Texas from anywhere else (with the possible exception of Tennessee as the accents are very similar). I don’t know how you handle that unless you have extra training to remove common sense.
I addressed this. There is nothing more I can add. If you are asking if I believe ICE agents should go randomly stop every brown person they see, then no…they should not.
No.
And (trivia fact)
America’s first “sanctuary city” is Reading PA, where local poluce stopped inquiring/asking abort immigration status well before it was “cool” to do so.
At issue was not a pro vs anti immigration question.
At issue was the fact that the city is home to many many Puerto Ricans, who are Americans, and were tired of being asked to prove their legal status everytime they had a police encounter.
