Voter ID doesn’t prevent voter fraud, for one thing.
But let’s back up a bit. Donald Trump concocted a tale, a Big Lie, about voter fraud costing him an election. He had to come up with these tales because he can’t fathom the idea of being a loser, even though that defines his entire existence.
Without one tiny bit of evidence, most Republicans believe these lies from Trump because they don’t like the thought of losing fair and square either.
As a result of all of these lies, Republicans have introduced 346 different bills in 47 states aimed at limiting legal votes and making it harder to vote. It doesn’t do anything to combat the non existent fraud. They just don’t want too many of the wrong kind of people voting, and for Republicans, black voters are the wrong kind of people voting. Many of them are convinced it was those shiftless “urban” voters that engaged in widespread electoral fraud and stole the election from Trump.
In short, these people are all anti democratic nincompoops that you can easily get it repeat lies if it fits in with their predilections and atavistic tendencies.
Instead of making their platform more attractive to more voters, the GOP had decided to give up on American democracy. Many of their voters feel the same way.
