Well, at one time we trusted the population with the Constitution.

As John Adams noted: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

Other nations don’t give their people the same liberties.

Maybe we’ve crossed the line of morality and self-control that the Constitution was expecting of us. Maybe we need to replace our government with something more oppressive and restrictive.

The thing is, doing that wouldn’t be limited just to gun rights. Toss out the Constitution we have, and all sorts of other liberties you take for granted will suddenly be up for government control as well.

Honestly, most progressives want that level of state control. It’s why debate on most topics is pointless.

You ALWAYS ignore the true problem…let me give you a small freakin hint…what has changed in the last 30 years?

Why did we not have these types of tragedies in the 80’s?
Why now?

I went to boot in 1985, we NEVER used full auto and were told it was a useless waste of ammo due to barrel rise. It was all semi auto all the time, every time with our M16A1’s (they went to 3 rd burst with the A2)

The gun grabbers ALWAYS avoid that question when I ask it. They always want to blame the easy things like firearms. They NEVER want to look at society itself.

Plus harder to purchase, used to be you could order a rifle from the sears catalog and have it delivered to your door, no ID checks, no background check, nothing. Used to see ammo on the homegoods shelves in the grocery stores, etc.

Every single gun show I have been to has required ONLY legal gun dealers were allowed to sell firearms AND the background checks were completed. Law enforcement patrolled the parking lot to make sure there were no backdoor sales going on.

What good is a locked up firearm?
I have more than one loaded handgun within 5 ft of me no matter where I am in the house or vehicle, been that way for years, yet absolutely nothing has happened. The ONLY time they will be secured is when my wife and I travel out of state.

So this young man was on the radar, but only a shallow investigation was done initially. It is funny that the FBI can do a deep dive to determine devices and IPs used in relation to child porn and pedophiles, but they can’t be bothered to do a meta data search of an online post about shooting up a school to identify that the post was mage from one devices to which this kid had access. But they knew this kid made the posts, because they put him on his old school’s watch list, along with the old county’s sheriff’s office. Then his family moved to a new county, with no information following him to the new school district, or county sheriff.

Unconfirmed report that an AK style weapon was used. Article attributes students reporting seeing a weapon, some described as an AK, on the floor next to a body as they were evacuated past the room it was in.

And we know why. It’s more convenient for these servile muppets to ask their masters to strip them of the rights others enjoy than it is to look at the moral decline created by the ideals they champion.

Stop telling people what to do, authoritarian.

The government didn’t have an army. They depended on militias. They wanted them to be armed when they needed them.

In threads about mass shootings, it’s always very important to virtue signal your appreciate and mastery of guns, lest you be mistaken for a softie interested in lessening mass shootings in the US.

You can’t stop that.

You can make it harder for them to get the tool they will use.

Other countries do that and it works.

Investigators said he was interviewed by law enforcement last year over online threats about committing a school shooting.

The FBI said local law enforcement had interviewed a 13-year-old subject and his father last year regarding online threats to commit a school shooting. Investigators said:

"The father stated he had hunting guns in the house, but the subject did not have unsupervised access to them. The subject denied making the threats online. Jackson County alerted local schools for continued monitoring of the subject."

If the gun used was his father’s, are the parents complicit?

We had them. Not as many, but still a lot.

You know when we had the fewest in recent history? When we had an assault weapons ban.
