Anti-gun protesters shut-down a major highway in the nation’s third-largest city Thursday, creating traffic chaos as Chicago police scrambled to contain the mass demonstrations.
According to the Associated Press, the planned march in the Windy City effectively stopped traffic along Lake Shore Drive, with demonstrators telling local news they’re “willing to be arrested” to highlight the region’s spiraling crime crisis.
“I’m hoping we have enough to…block traffic, to be a disruptive force” said one of the event’s organizers. “This is an act of civil disobedience.”
“You want to go where they chill out and relax,” he added.

If they were really concerned with spiraling crime they might just ditch the code against snitching.
More to the point, how do they think irritating the “affluent” is going to help. It will just reinforce the affluent’s prejudices against them.
I would go with blocking traffic is just the wrong way to go, not because it irritates the affluent (who, btw, may not have to worry if they’re late getting someplace because they’re potentially really affluent) but because it irritates everybody. Including people who are just trying to get to work or may be disposed to hear you out.
It’s not wear meat clothes and run with lions dumb, but it isn’t smart strategy either.
I’ve joked that no man should be poor who owns his own tools.
Want to get a pound of flesh from the rich? After a bit of paint, modification and fuss sell them all your old crap as expensive shabby chic. Laughing to the bank is always the best revenge.
Addendum: the perfect response to efforts to block highways is a counter protest where folks have tailgate parties in full view of the protestors.
