It was a 1977 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was the car picture in the meme about the 80s.

A genius made boots for the army and got the sole contract for the boots worn by soldiers in Viet Nam in 1967. He invented a process called “vulcanizing” where he glued the bottoms to the tops so that there was no stitching to rot when they went through the rice patties. His intent was to stop this picture from happening. He passed away in 1997 and I bought one of his businesses from his family.

It was the year 1967 when the Department of Defense first awarded McRae Footwear a contract to produce combat boots for the United States Army. Previously, the company had operated under a different title, producing quality children?s shoes using Process 82 construction. Upon receipt of the Army contract, McRae converted their equipment to satisfy the U.S. government?s choice of a direct molded sole design for military footwear. Since that time, McRae boots have become among the most trusted and frequently worn by soldiers and law enforcement personnel alike.
