If a 95% effective vaccine is more frightening than COVID, what does it really tell us about the fear level of contracting COVID?

For people who wear masks, distance, and wash their hands, it’s definitely working. How else can you explain why the the countries who took those precautions early and as a community have so many fewer cases and deaths? Australia is basically back to normal. Conversely, countries like Sweden who took a minimalist approach, are paying the price now. There is no sound reason why the US should be high on the list for worldwide cases and deaths.
