This thread might be one of the most clear cut demonstrations of how Fox News does it’s thing.

“I’m just asking the question”, followed by some wink wink head scratching followed by actual hand wringing.

You know it’s true. Or you don’t which is worse.

Which god is this?

The one and only… Whom the Democrats booed and removed from their 2012 Democrat platform.

You’re right.

I missed the sarcasm. My apologies.

Sometimes I have a hard time keeping straight who is who. Again, my apologies.

What it comes down to then is really , " might makes right." It’s the technology and weapons man make with our superior intelligence that has given some nations the edge over other nations throughout history isn’t it? It certainly isn’t our innate peaceful, benevolent nature. How lucky for us then that our nation has created the best technology and weapons to keep kindly people like George III, Hitler and Sadam Hussein from coming over and sharing their benevolence with us. Or maybe, how arrogant we are to fight to maintain our freedom from all the other “intelligent” people on the planet… That’s the most prevalent view from the left today.

You libs have absolutely nothing on which to base your governing decisions except emotion. You’re incapable of learning from history, and reject the instructions of God, either of which clearly shows that of course we’re going to " trash the place." It’s what we do best of all.

Apology accepted my friend… We’re on the same page more often than not.

First. Acceptance of the truth of evolutionary theory isn’t a “liberal” thing. It just is.

Second… yes… for most of human history might has made right. It is still the norm today. No belief in a deity has changed that fact nor will an acceptance of a secular view of the universe. There is the world as it is and the world that we would like it to be and those things rarely coexist together.

So please spare me the “listen to God” line like there is somehow some moral superiority in that position when there isn’t.

How is that different from the Christians who do the same with God? Not much of a cause for concern.

Ok, perhaps for the first time, we agree. At least with your second paragraph. So, with an agreement that we would both like a “better” world. How do you think our secular government, which is, as you admit, based on a might makes right existence, going to make the world the better place you envision?

Well that is a lot to unpack, because my opinions about what the right path to take vary from issue to issue… because well every issue is different. I think that having a hardline and inflexible personal philosophy means that one will more than likely start with the solution and work backwards instead of trying to have an informed opinion based on ever changing information. That is not to say that a personal moral or ethical philosophy shouldn’t inform an opinion also, it is just that maybe not seeing the world in a left/right paradigm might not be the most productive thing and instead look at the political world as a continuum of thought instead.

I get this, and agree to a point. I admit I’m about as far right as you can go, and while I may not always have all the information on issues (and I think very few actually do), what I do understand is people. I know people from a Christian perspective in which scripture says " The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked…" I know people from a secular perspective. “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” This is us. Yes, there are some things worse than others but no one is exempt from these two truths. Politicians exemplify them.

The more politicians, the more lying, cheating and stealing is made possible regardless of which party is in power. The money I earn is mine, not theirs and while I understand certain things have to be paid for, namely defending our country, paying law enforcement and infrastructure, anything outside of these basic functions were added by politicians throughout our history. Many were added by well meaning people with genuine altruistic goals, but just as many were added to get votes. Once the government creates a program, it never goes away. It gets bigger and bigger and costs more and more.

I’m all for charity, and give what I think is a reasonable amount of my income, I don’t mind a small amount taken in taxes to help those in genuine need, but when our government decides that people genuinely need a free education and we need to study things like shrimp on treadmills or studying prostitution in China, I say enough is enough. Posters talk about deficit spending? We are borrowing money to study prostitution in China and shrimp? Does this make sense to you? A little here, a little there and next thing you know, we’re 21 trillion dollars in debt! Politicians treat the American tax payers like piggy banks that never empty, and despite everyone saying they don’t like it, THEY KEEP DOING IT!! Know why??
Because they are teaching us about more important things like global warming and gender identity because they don’t want us to wise up, pay attention to what they are doing, unite and put their sorry worthless asses out in the street or in prison where most of them belong.

You’re a smart guy, think about it…
