Do you even have documentation about how many of those will try some bogus claim for Asylum instead of just crossing illegally? And when their claims are denies, you expect them just to turn around and start walking home, if they have some other option (such as illegal crossing)?

They will arrive at the border, be detained on the U.S side, process by the justice system, either get Asylum or be deported.
They are not illegal crossing, it only illegal to cross the U.S border if your intention is anything other then to claim Asylum from the government.

No. It is illegal to cross the border…illegally. Once having done so, it is legal to claim assylum but you have still broken our laws when you crossed illegally. There is not “plans to claim assylum” exception.

They will show up at the border present themselves to agents and be detained, this happen every single day on the Southern Border.
Its illegal to refuse entry to people seeking Asylum, you have to process their claim and view the merit of their case.

once they are detained they will be sen to a holding center for a month till a case judge can review their Credible Fear interview which is a litmus test to see if the claim is valid or not. if the judge view their claim as valid they will be granted a green card.

What will likely happen again this time:
those that cross not at port of entry are classed a irregular not illegal because like i said you can’t deny a claim for asylum that is a violation of federal and international law. the reason why the government would you rather go to a port of entry is due to safety for the migrants not getting lost and dying.
but yes there are long lines the system is overflowing with claims, Canada is see a large influx of claims from people in the U.S seeking protection form being deported back to South America / Africa.
So that you would ask such a hard-hitting follow-up question.
