Good point. I think we could have them to go another room and then come in again, when it’s over.

Why?
Not the “other room” part, but why disrupt the school day at all to recite the pledge?

How does having school children recite the pledge benefit anyone?

It’s almost like the system is saying kids change their mind too often. We have to make sure that Little Johnny and Little Cindy Lou likes America today unlike yesterday.

I think a better system would be have a conversation with children every year or every quarterly about patriotism and how people show pride in their country and how protesting can be viewed as the highest form of pride, as in, the belief that America needs to get better.

What struck me odd about the Fox and Friends was this concept that “liberals” want to teach children that America is a bad place rather than a good one. The problem here, other than the character assassination of liberals (Which I am not one), is the fact that American history is full of great moments and moments where we should be ashamed. We do this in order to show kids the truth and hopefully we learned from our mistakes.

These are decisions which should be left up to the schools.

I will agree that it was a PR stunt and it’s probably a waste of time. Teaching kids about civics and how there are many forms of patriotic acts out there would be more productive.

Indoctrination.
