The Dept of the Interior is updating national park entry fees, making them more affordable for Americans and more expensive for foreigners.
In a statement hailing a new “resident-focused fee structure that puts American families first,” the department said as of January 1, 2026, the annual pass will cost non-US residents $250 to obtain, more than triple the standard $80 which US residents will continue to pay.
Foreign tourists who don’t purchase the pass will pay a $100-per-person fee, in addition to the standard entrance fee, to enter 11 of the most visited national parks, including the Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountain, Yellowstone and Yosemite, the statement said.
This will def help the decline in international tourism right?
This announced price hike comes amid a decline in international tourism to the US, fueled by changes to tariff policies and crackdowns on immigration. Yellowstone has reported a decrease in international visitation, down from approximately 30% in 2018 to 14.8% in 2024.
I have to ask, what in the actual ■■■■ are we doing? This administration will cut off it’s own nose to spite it’s face. Are they actively trying to destroy things? It’s truly incredible how dumb these people are.

Did you ever consider that the amount of $80 was ridiculously low?
Can you take the wife out for dinner for just one night for that amount? Has the prices of anything gone up in your world?
$250 is still extremely low and very inviting for all to come visit. If you can’t afford that small amount for something where the value far exceeds that, then you can’t afford to come to this country…period.
Let’s say $80 is too low. If you’re trying to increase revenue, why raise prices on a demographic who’s attendance has declined year after year. It’s just bad business IMO.
But it’s not $250 for everybody… just non us citizens. Doesn’t seem like the goal is to raise prices due to rising costs. The goal seems like a move to lower visitation from foreigners..
