I am deleting that- I didn’t mean it that way, but i can see why its a bad idea.

Sure they can. Are citizens living 12 to an apartment?

Let’s see if I can get this back on track.
States requesting federal help to combat latest surge in COVID-19 patients (msn.com)
This is too rich. According to ABC News, Florida (as well as several other states) is now asking the federal government for help dealing with a shortage of hospital space because of the delta surge.
How fast do you think DeSantis will back off on his no mask mandates now? Any dibs on vaccine passports in Fla in the near future?
Please compare Florida to North Dakota and tell why there’s been no surge there even with a 10% lower vaccination rate?
Population density perhaps?

How do the population densities compare?
niether study saw any benefit to wearing of masks for children in school. none, zero, zip, zilch.
no-one is saying anything about whether they benefit in community spread, which the study rightly denies could be concluded. the focus was in school, where it found no difference in spread whether or not kids were masked.
further no claims are made about school spread regardless of mask use because thats not part of the study. none of that changes the underlying fact that neither study saw any benefit whatsoever to kids wearing masks in school.
niether study makes a generalized statement that masks are innefective because neither study tested whether masks were generally effective, they tested the rate of covid cases in school with and without masks and found… no difference.
That’s why I put Tourist Season as #1. The same thing happened in Provincetown, MA, which contributed to their outbreak. I also read the same reasoning for spikes in some NJ towns.
Because North Dakotan’s live 20 miles apart from each other, and rarely get close enough to spread anything?
Which is why I put tourist season as #1.

Tourism isn’t quite the same as density. But sure, all those things contribute.
But other, highly vaccinated states have lots of tourism and very low case counts. So that doesn’t seem to be the main factor.
Go look at their map. They had a big surge in November of last year, but are nowhere near that now. Florida on the other hand is past the highest numbers they had last year.
Did you read about the Provincetown outbreak in which there was a 70% vaccination rate.
Yeah, because they all get together like once a year to celebrate thanksgiving. Other than that, they live like hermits.
The weather is contributing too. It hot in Southern states forcing people indoors for relief. Unfortunately, Florida is an indicator of what will happen to Northern states the fall/winter.

Yes. And as crazy as that outback was, it didn’t move the needle on MA case rates or even the county. The cape is 14 cases per 100K and MA is 15.
CA - plenty of tourism there - is 30.
NJ - our shores are PACKED - is 15.
FLA is 93.
The national trend is still going up, so I do see that continuing.

If one of them carried a new variety from Latin America or elsewhere, it certainly could be. Remember back when there were only 14 cases of Covid in the US?
