First Supreme Court opinion of the term, plus one "dig", all in all kind of a dud

The Supreme Court issued its first opinion in an argued case of this term.

Arellano v McDonough, Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

Held: Veterans disability compensation deadlines are not subject to equitable tolling.

Unanimous decision by Justice Barrett.

Additionally the court dismissed In re Grand Jury as improvidently granted. This case had been argued on January 9th. No explanation given.

Link to today’s order list, which is unremarkable.

Sorry, some days are just duds. They can’t all be “Dobbs” days.

Next chance for opinions will not be until Friday, March 17th. So if you are waiting with bated breath on any pending case, you have almost two full months to cool your heels.
