Interesting that the gouging is based on a prior 120 day period. So if a company was actually losing money during that period, they would be charged with gouging if they just broke even.

No need to build pipelines, refineries, open new leases and explore. We can have plentiful cheap gasoline with price controls. Problem solved.

Ummm…I believe a pipeline was going to be constructed until the Biden administration closed it down. The administration is reducing areas for new leases.
The Biden administration (as well as much of the western world) is vilifying oil companies and pushing (in my opinion prematurely) electric cars and other sources of energy such as windmills. Pipelines, exploration, development of sources like shale, and especially new refineries require an expectation of long term returns. Would you invest your money if the government was subsidizing the competition and hoping to shut you down?
Expect the government to do everything they can to inhibit oil companies and then blame them when alternatives aren’t available and prices rise due to a shortage of supply.

i recommend they lock the price of gas at oh i dunno, 3 bucks a gal avg, until nov
