Fair Tax Bill, Eliminate IRS

i know it wont make it far. Question is why? Who (taxpayer, not gov person) would be against this?

seems it already has some supporters.

good idea or no?

seems too good to be true

I’m for a simplified tax code.

Not for eliminating income tax to replace it with tariffs on all imports. Tariffs impact the poor for more than people in my tax bracket.

odd. he doesnt mention anything about “replacing with tariffs”. did i miss it?

eliminating income tax, death tax, cap gains tax…. all seem like they would help the “poor”

I thought I saw it in the bill.

The income (some) needs to be replaced some how, right?

National sales tax. Looks like the proposal is 14.9%

whose “income needs?”

“MYTH: The FairTax rate is really 30 percent not 23 percent.

Our current income tax is expressed as an inclusive rate. When directly comparing the FairTax to our current income tax, the FairTax rate is 23 percent.“

did you?

Yes…but they will never allow that to happen.

Round it out to 15 percent…

30 percent would be an increase for me.

I think the 50 percent or so paying no income tax should have to pay SOMETHING.

Those who pay nothing have no problem with it being increased, in fact many favor it.

I think Huckabee’s idea when he was running was over 30 percent.

I liked him but didn’t consider voting for him because of that.

Correct I see 23% on page 19. A consumption tax.

That’s why I think this is fair. I also don’t think government deserves one penny until basic needs are met. Society can determine what basic needs are.

With this tax he’s purposing food etc will be exempt…and society can determine what else.

Too much power shifting.
